    Hello For a change this week, I will spare you tales of frogs, blocked gutters and hornets and look at some of our renovation projects. As I collected my latest bargain, it made me think of all the things we have acquired over the years and especially since we arrived in France. The renovation project list gets longer but progress is slowly being made.  My two latest acquisitions are a lovely plant stand for the garden and a book rest for the kitchen, something I have wanted for a while as it is annoying perching cookery books amongst ingredients or away from where I am preparing food.     Renovating Returns

    Hello I have long promised an update on some of the many projects we have lined up. Each room is, of course, a project on its own but over the time we have been here, and even before, we have acquired numerous articles to renovate, update, upcycle or repair. There are chairs, tables, an old French sofa found in a barn, lamps, mirrors and even a baguette box! These things, one person’s rubbish, another’s treasure, have been bought at brocantes, found at vide-greniers (the French equivalent of a car boot or yard sale) or given to us.     Fixing up furniture

    Hello everyone and so sorry this post is rather late. Hopefully these beautiful sweet peas from my garden will make up for this. We had our first Covid vaccinations on Thursday, and I have to say I didn’t feel great that evening nor the next day, so various things were put on hold including, I am sorry to say, this post! Alongside work, I have been busy this week renovating a couple of bits of furniture, as well as cleaning up a very tarnished old brass lamp base and the front door bell.
