Calm in chaos

Hello Everyone

We are all finally out of quarantine post-Covid, Max is regaining some of his ability to taste but not his sense of smell, apart from petrol when he is strimming! I thought the spicy courgette chutney might be something he could taste so we opened a jar before it had matured. Strong flavours work for him at the moment, although he draws the line at Roquefort as he is not a blue cheese fan.

Evenings are chillier and the mornings have an autumnal feel, there is mist rising over the lake at sunrise and each night brings quite a heavy dew. Often the day warms up beautifully, enough to tempt us into the pool when we have time. With the changeable weather and our slightly chaotic life at the moment, we haven’t really made enough time for the pool this year, in spite of promising ourselves we would. In complete contrast to last year, the lawns have stayed green this summer which alas has meant constant mowing and strimming. If we leave it for more than a week, the job requires huge effort and time. I say we, Max is actually chief lawn mower, while I am chief weeder and flower bed tender. He is hard at work as I type, I am not! Well not that sort of work anyway.

This year August has turned into a disorganised month – well it is August and we are in France where it is the holiday month. Even our pool guy goes on holiday. No holiday for us, but maybe it is time for a few days without a gruelling to do list hanging over us. That’s all I am going to say. So while chaos reigns supreme, I thought a few images of beautiful skies, views and other things would celebrate the magic of nature. We mustn’t forget how precious our planet is.

I will be back before you know it with the next instalment.

I am off to water a thirsty potager and take the dog out before it is too hot.

Take care everyone.

A bientôt
