Dandelion Puffs

Bonjour à tous

We have warm weather! I am finally out of my thermals! Today I am even sock free! Too many exclamation marks but oh my goodness, you can’t imagine the joy. It is tempting to rush and open the pool, but I think the warm days are not yet here to stay!

Max and I have taken up residence in the garden, trying to get on top of the myriad jobs that now await us. As you can see, we are being overtaken by dandelions – the flowers are great early nectar for bees, and the puffs are so beautiful – apart from when you realise that each one carries hundreds of seeds, each destined to become another dandelion!

Max is cutting the lawn and still raking up leaves – where do they all come from? (I know they come from trees, but I swear that some have been blown in on the phenomenal winds that we have had). The new leaf compost area is filling up fast. We are still waiting for the arrival of the ride-on lawnmower, or tractor as I fondly call it, which will change our lives from a lawn cutting point of view. I am trying to weed, plant and sort out the very overgrown potager. We have mountains of fabulous leaf compost to add to the potager, but the compost heap is also home to some big fat grubs, so now needs sifting through to prevent them from making it to the potager. Not a pleasant job, but whilst they help speed up the composting process, they are not ideal for the veg growing process! The birds, however, are quite enjoying a new food source kindly left (by me) in the wheelbarrow.

We have also been deciding on some trellis type panels to put between the pool and the driveway, so we have a little more privacy at the pool. Who knew there was so much choice! Not quite as ridiculous as the number of paint colour choices now, but nonetheless a lot of choice!

I have been brocante spending again – a pretty table, shape-wise but not the current colour. This may become a lamp table in the salon. More painting to do, and less buying to do I think. At least until I either win the lottery or deal with some of the things we have already purchased.

I have to confess the door opening in the salon has not yet taken place. I don’t know about you, but I am sure time has sped up. Another week flown by, admittedly I had a very slow weekend of 9th and 10th April as it was my birthday, lots of cake but not much useful progress in the house or garden!

We will, no doubt, be in the garden a lot in the coming weeks, but will find the time to start on the doors, as well as catch up with some of the posts I have yet to publish (and write).

Hope you all had an enjoyable Easter weekend.

A bientôt

Another really interesting blog, Alison. What a pity dandelions are such a nuisance because seeing the close up of them, they’re beautiful !!

Glad to hear you had a good birthday with lots of cake!!!!

    Love Mo. xx

Thank you so much Mo. I am glad you are enjoying it. Dandelions are beautiful and the bees love them. We may, however, have too many, but you can use them for lots of different things. More on that soon. Love Ali x
